So from Hanoi we bought a Motorbike and decided to do the Northwest loop..

The remote mountains of northwest Vietnam are home to some of South East Asia’s most rugged terrain, beautiful scenery and colourful hill tribes. Leaving the graceful boulevards of Hanoi behind, we travelled to Mai Chau before traversing the bumpy mountain roads to Son La, Dien Bien Phu, Phoung Tho, Sapa, Lao Cai and then the overnight train back to Hanoi. A great experience with breathtaking mountain views and friendly locals along the way. If you want to get off the beaten track in Vietnam, we would recommend this to anyone! The only problem we had was the weather not at its best so didn’t have the stunning views every day but that’s life.
